The Congressional Institute is sponsoring the Congressional Art Competition. This is the 38th year of holding the competition. The Institute will display the winner’s artwork in the Cannon Tunnel of the US Capitol for one year. But hurry! The deadline for submitting an entry is Monday, March 15.
Who Can Compete?
The art competition is open to all high schoolers between grades 9-12. The competition is bipartisan, meaning a student from any political party may submit an entry.
What Is The Competition?
The artwork must be no larger than 26 inches by 26 inches by 4 inches deep, including frame. The submission needs to be in two dimension. Some of the suggested meadiums are paintings, drawings, prints, and photographs. The entry must be original.
When Is The Deadline?
Hurry! The deadline for submitting an entry is March 15, 2021. Competitors may submit their artwork via email to jodi.williams@mail.house.gov or megan.nickey@mail.house.gov.
Maximim size for email is 1 MB in JPEG. Contestants may also submit their entry in person to a representative district office.
What Else?
Students need to file a release form for submission. Winners are invited to attend the National Reception in Washington DC. The artwork will hang in the Capitol for one year before being returned to the student.
