West Plains, Mo. –The Heart of the Ozarks Fair is happening from June 6-11, 2022. On Tuesday, June 7th, the Future Farmers of America (FFA) and 4-H kids’ animals were auctioned off. There were a lot of pigs and goats entered in the fair. The AltonMo.com field team was able to interview some of these kids.
FFA Entrants
Three of the interviewees were Riley Neldon, Trevor Cunningham, and Austin Anderson. The three were showing a goat, pig, and steer respectively. For the three entrants they have been participating in the fair for one to two years.
4-H Interviews
Jasey-Rae Hitch and Emily Smith were the two local 4-H interviewees. The two girls have been entered in the fair for three years. Hitch has shown only goats while Smith has shown a pig and two steers.
Others
Other young farmers were also interviewed. One of the interviewees has entered the Heart of the Ozarks Fair for eight years (this is her ninth and final year). While you have veterans in this area, you also have new beginners also coming up.
Names For Animals
While these youth have to be serious in taking care of their animal, they do have fun with it by naming their animals. Some names include Bob, Jerry, Dino, Pumba, Barney, and Hogs.
Poultry And Bunnies
While June 7th was the auction for the steers, pigs, and goats. Friday, June 10th is the day the poultry and rabbits will be shown.
The Heart of the Ozarks Fair is till going on with the poultry and rabbit show and the rides. The fair ends June 11th. Make sure to come out and have some fun!
