Alton, Mo. – It seems that the weather has changed recently. Although we welcome cooler temperatures, some people have more problems as the temperature decreases. Elderly people. Our Alton Senior Center is dedicated to helping our elderly. The senior center is hosting a winter clothing drive.
What Can I Donate?
It is so common for elderly people to live on fixed incomes. The high inflation shouldn’t make them choose between food and heating their homes. Most of their budgets probably don’t allow for buying a new coat or sweater. As a community, we are asked to step out and help those in need. If you have a new or barely used coat, can you donate it?
Where To Donate?
The senior center is taking all sizes. You can drop off your donation at the Alton Multi-Purpose Senior Center. The address there is 204 Main Street, right next to the post office.
If you are heading to Thayer, they are collecting, too. Feel free to drop off warm clothing at the Thayer Fun & Friends Senior Center at 100 Chestnut.
A small donation goes a long way. An extra layer of warmth between the seniors and the cold can be enough to keep them healthy this winter. Can you help out? They are collecting through the end of this year.
