Do you want to learn lifeguard skills? Do you know of a son or daughter, a youth, who might want to learn this skill? West Plains will offer three lifeguard classes to a limited number of individuals in the next few months. Here is what you need to know.
What Is Happening?
West Plains MSU Community Programs Department is hosting lifeguard classes. These classes are for anyone who wants to work at the West Plains Civic Center indoor pool or the West Plains Aquatic Center. The classes are part of the Jeff Ellis and Associates International Lifeguard Training Program.
When Are The Classes?
One set of classes was in March. The next classes are set for April 22-23 and again for May 20-21.
Where Will The Classes Happen?
All classes take place at the West Plains Civic Center. The address is 110 St. Louis Street in West Plains.
Who Can Take The Class?
Each class is open to those 16 or older by May 31, 2023. The class is open to Only the first 12 students who register.

What Is Required To Get A Lifeguard License?
To qualify for lifeguard licensing, attendees must pass a written exam with a score of 80 percent or higher, pass individual technical performance exams, and pass simulation practical exams. Nonetheless, this is a skill one can use the rest of his life.
