Alton, Mo. – The Alton Public Library is thinking about spring and gardening. It is even thinking about dirt and beauty, so much so that the library wants the community to take advantage of spring and growing plants. The University of Missouri Oregon County extension office has donated seeds to the library to be passed out to library patrons.
What Is Happening?
Stop by the Alton Public Library for seed packets. A patron may choose up to three packages of free seeds. The University of Missouri donates these seeds. The library is taking donations of seeds to pass out from anyone who wants to donate.
How To Grow?
If you are new to gardening, the library has several books on gardening on hand. These books tell everything from choosing a location, preparing the soil, caring once planted, and watching the plant thrive.
When Can I Do This?
Now. This free offer is available only while seed supplies last. The library is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am until 4:30 pm.
Who Can Do This?
The library has no age limitations on seeds or renting books.
This is a great opportunity for novice and experienced gardeners to beautify their surroundings. Whether one grows flowers, greenery, or vegetables, one can be satisfied as long as the plant grows.
