This past week had different resolutions coming through the House of Representatives. While Republicans have the majority, they still need to act in the way that best suits their constituents. Representative Smith, in Washington DC, cast his ballots for the people of Missouri. Here is where he stands.
H.R. 724
This resolution prohibits schools that receive federal funding from allowing biological males to participate in athletic programs or activities designated for biological women. This protects females from undressing in a locker room with a biological male present. Representative Smith voted yes. Resolution passed.
H.R. 1149
This resolution Requires the State Department to report to Congress on untrusted telecommunications equipment or services in countries with collective defense agreements with the United States. Representative Smith voted yes. Resolution passed.
H.R. 1151
This resolution requires a State Department-led strategy to counter China’s use of spy balloons worldwide. It requires the Department of Commerce to evaluate U.S. technologies that may help China’s spy balloon program for the purposes of export control. The bill also authorizes sanctions on entities helping China’s spy balloon program. Representative Smith voted yes. Resolution passed.
Many items going through the House are resolutions. This means that the conservative House is for them, but they realize that the liberal Senate will probably not pass them as a bill. One can keep abreast of the items Representative Smith is working on by going here.
