June marks the beginning of summer, which means camping, hiking, and fishing. The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) wants to encourage residents to enjoy the outdoors by having a free fishing weekend. That is scheduled for this weekend!

When Is Free Fishing?

The Department of Conservation has designated the weekend after the first Monday in June as Free Fishing Days. It begins on Saturday, June 10, and ends on Sunday, June 11, 2023.

No Permits?

Save your money. There is no need to purchase a fishing permit or even a trout permit this weekend only! Missouri residents and nonresidents alike can fish without state permits. Anglers who fish state waters can do so without an MDC fishing permit, trout permit, or prescribed area daily tag. However, all other fishing regulations, such as size and daily limits, remain in effect. Certain regulations may still be required if one fishes at a state park.

Who Does This Apply To?

This free fishing initiative applies to residents and non-residents, men and women, children and the aged: all people!

The weather forecast is good for fishing. So bring out the whole family to the Eleven Point River and catch some supper- for free! You may get hooked and fish more frequently as a hobby.
