Alton, Mo. – The Heart of the Ozarks Fair began on Monday and continues through Saturday. Although those entering items to be judged began months earlier, this is the culmination of all the hard work. Bring the babies in strollers along with the grandparents for an evening of fun and thrills.
Animals
The fair offers an opportunity for various animals to be grown and shown. From cattle, pigs, sheep, and goats to bunnies and poultry, one has a big choice of which animal to enter. The judging is spread out across the week. Large animals began on Tuesday, while the week ended with poultry and rabbits.
Rides
Of course, the fair has a variety of rides. Younger children can ride cars or the dinosaur roller coaster, while older people can scream at fast-twirling rides. For a break, they have a tall slide. Naturally, the Ferris wheel is a favorite for all ages.
Tuesday was discount ride night, but all week, they offered wristbands for discount riding.
Food
The Heart of the Ozarks Fair offers all of the ordinary fair food: kettle corn, popcorn, corn dogs, and plenty of lemonade.
Games
What would a fair be without skill games? Shill booths are set up for all ages. Try your hand at throwing darts or grabbing a shark. Win a prize!
Shows
Each evening has its specialty of shows. Live Gospel music permeated Wednesday’s festivities. Thursday is Motorcross, and Friday is Truck Pulls. Saturday is the favorite demolition derby.
You can see some of the rides on our Facebook page here. It is a great way to begin summertime.
