While Congress is ending its session, it is still voting on important issues that affect Missourians. With this in mind, Representative Smith did not vote ‘present.’ Instead, he stood his ground and voted on a few critical issues. He is also bringing the upcoming end of the Trump tax cuts to the front.

S. 4199, The Judicial Understaffing Delays Getting Emergencies Solved (JUDGES) Act of 2024:

This adds 66 new federal judgeships in overworked districts nationwide to help address case filing increases and ensure Americans have timely access to justice. Smith voted in favor, and the measure was passed.

H.R. 5009, the Servicemember Quality of Life Improvement and National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2025:

This resolution strengthens our national security by deterring China, restoring lethality, and cracking down on inefficient fund use. In addition, the bill authorizes a much-needed pay raise for our men and women in uniform. It passed, and Representative Smith voted yes.

H.R. 7673, the Liberty in Laundry Act:

This resolution prevents the Secretary of Energy and the DOE from implementing new or amended energy efficiency standards for clothes washers that are not technologically feasible and economically justified. It did pass, and Representative Smith voted in favor.

Budget

Additionally, Smith did vote in favor of the new budget. When it was originally set to be passed with a 40% pay raise for all elected officials, Musk and Vivek swarmed social media to let the people who pay the taxes be aware of this situation. That bill did Not pass. A seperate bill allowing for funing for the disaster victims was passed by the House and Senate.
