Kansas City, Mo. – The Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, suffered a dislocated kneecap during the Broncos game last Thursday. Although it was initially reported that Mahomes could be skipping around three weeks of the season as he recovered, on Wednesday, October 23, Mahomes participated in practice.
On October 17, the Chiefs went up against the Denver Broncos, which the Chiefs won 30-6. However, in the second quarter on fourth down. Patrick Mahomes successfully completed a quarterback sneak- which was no big deal until everyone saw that Mahomes was hurt.
He had dislocated his kneecap at the bottom of the pile. The Chiefs medical staff came and popped it back into place, allowing Mahomes to walk back to the locker room by his own power. Patrick Mahomes was x-rayed and ruled out of the rest of the game.

Mahomes MRI
Mahomes had an MRI Friday and the news came back better than expected, he had no fractures or ligament damage, which is good.
Rick Burkholder, the Chiefs head athletic trainer, said, “He’s worked all weekend here. He’s done the rehabilitation. He did extensive pool therapy here at the complex. He’s done some stuff in the athletic training room and is progressing nicely.” Burkholder also pressed on the subject that every injury and person is different- they originally said he’d be out three to six weeks; the Chiefs had also said that he might play in the game against the Los Angeles Chargers on November 18. Or Mahomes would play after their bye week, which is week 12.
Now, just six days after the injury, Mahomes is practicing again. Head Coach Andy Reid said that the majority of the reps would go to the backup QB, Matt Moore. Coach Reid still hasn’t ruled ou Patrick Mahomes for Sunday against the Packers. He did say it would be a “stretch’ if he did play, however.
#Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Patrick Mahomes will practice today, but Matt Moore will make the “majority” of the team reps.
But when asked, Reid once again didn’t rule out Mahomes for Sunday.
