Thayer, Mo. – The Thayer, Missouri fireworks were held on July 4, 2020. A good crowd showed up to see the fireworks and AirEvac. The weather was warm and humid (yes, Virginia, southern Missouri in July can be “muggy”) but the American Spirit was high. Crowds enjoyed the spectacle, friends and family to celebrate our nation’s 244th birthday. Happy 4th of July!
AirEvac
To start off the evening, the AirEvac landed on the Thayer High School football field. The AirEvac helicopter circled around the field at approximately 5:30 pm. The helicopter landed on the field and the pilot and the EMT’s got out. Families went out to look at the helicopter and to take pictures of it.
Color Guard
The color guard proceeded majestically out onto the track with the United States of America flag and the Missouri flag. After the color guard came out the National Anthem was sung.
A Break and Southern Edge Band
After the color guard came out and the National Anthem was sung, there was a break of almost three hours for the people to spend time with each other and see the booths. The youth did physical activities on the field and around the schoolyard. The Southern Edge Band supplied the music for the night.
Booths
Politicians, Ron Copeland, Eric King, a representative for Frank DeVenuto, and Jack Bates were there with booths. There were various booths from local merchants. There was popcorn, lemonade, and other foods available at the booths.
Fireworks
Shortly after 9:00 o’ clock. the bleachers were cleared off on the far side of the field enabling the patrons to have a clear view and to stay safe, of the fireworks. The fireworks lit up the sky, shook the ground, and echoed around the town. The show lasted for more or less than twenty minutes.
