Would you consider yourself a winter runner? Try a half marathon this weekend to keep your fitness levels high. West Plains is having its Heart of the Ozarks marathon this Saturday. Even though it is winter and the weather is expected to be cold, do not be discouraged. Sign up today. Here are more details.<\/p>\n
Everyone is invited to take part in the 10th annual Heart of the Ozarks Marathon 10k run, half marathon relay, and Mindy’s run. The fun run is 2.5 miles. The event begins and ends at the historic post office event center on east Main.The race takes lace on Saturday, February 19th. <\/p>\n
It is important to register early. Due to the virus, race day registration is not accepted.\u00a0 Your packet of information will be available in the conference room of the Holiday Inn Express from 3 to 8 p.m. on February 18. Prizes will be awarded to the male and female winners of each race. Swag and goodies will be handed out to the runners. This includes a shirt and medals.<\/p>\n
The actual race begins at 7:30 a.m., immediately following the Star Spangled Banner Anthem. The course will be well marked with shoe shaped stencils and arrows at each turn. It could be cold, so dress appropriately. Spectators are permitted to align themselves along the race route to cheer on the athletes.<\/p>\n
