Following the discovery of potentially elevated levels of vitamin D, Nestle Purina PetCare announced a recall of certain types of dog food. Nestle’s<\/span> Purina, according to the Food and Drug Administration’s website, is recalling prescription dog food after receiving “two contacts about two separate confirmed cases of dog<\/span> exhibiting signs of vitamin D toxicity after consuming the diet, to date.” The dogs have recovered after they were removed from the food, it said.<\/p>\n A notice on the product’s availability stated that it could only be purchased by prescription in the United States. It covers the 8-pound and 20-pound bags. The recall applies to the Purina<\/span> Pro Plan Veterinary Diets EL Elemental in 8-pound and 20-pound bags.
