Have you ever gone to the store and there is a residue on the fresh fruit and vegetables? It seems like you can’t get rid of it. In a YouTube video, Fit Tuber explains how to get rid of pesticides on fruits and vegetables.

History

In the video, Fit Tuber said that 99% of crops are treated with chemical pesticides in India. He goes on to explain that even after washing the fruits and vegetables continuously for several seconds, the pesticides still don’t come off.

Types of Solutions

There are three main types of chemical solutions put on fruits and veggies: a ripening agent, a coating agent, and pesticides.

Dealing With It

To deal with ripening and coating agents, eat the food when it’s in season and avoid foreign foods.

Avoiding Pesticides

A couple of solutions to avoid fruits and veggies with pesticides on them is by buying organic food or using baking soda.

Baking Soda

To get rid of the pesticides, put your contaminated food into a container and fill it with water. After that, add one tablespoon of baking soda to the water. Leave the container for 15-20 minutes. After the time has passed, wash the food under running water. They are then good to use.
