Apply during the month of May for\u00a0<strong>only $10<\/strong> each for a chance to draw a 2023 Missouri Resident Black Bear Hunting Permit and a 2023 Missouri Resident Antlered Elk Hunting Permit. Applications opened May 1 online at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/go.mdc.mo.gov\/e\/887673\/l-887673-2023-04-25-2vxt3r\/2vxt3v\/496756929?h=EHKGHnCexOJ0o20pCV9l8zpdyHIwD8fx6o9Gl0Kc2nY\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Online-Sales | Missouri Department of Conservation<\/a>. The results of the random drawings will be available by <span class=\"zm_inLnk\" data-value=\"2023-07-01 10:00:00\">July 1.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Bear Season<\/h3>\n<p>Although the bear season is in October, one must apply for an application. Only a limited number of residents are allowed to hunt the bears. However, if one wishes to participate in black bear hunts, one must apply for a permit. That application process is only valid in May. The Missouri Department of Conservation keeps close tabs on the number of bears harvested. As a new hunt for Missourians, the numbers grow annually for a permit. Similar to bears, one applies in May to be chosen for an elk permit. Only a limited number are chosen. Last year, each hunter chosen did harvest an elk. The possibility of being drawn for a hunt depends on how many apply for each hunt. To submit an application, the MDC charges a $10 fee.
