Tuesday’s USDA Cold Storage Report had beef 3 percent lower than last month and 20 percent lower than a year ago. The USDA’s semi-annual Cattle Inventory released Friday had Beef Cow Inventories 3 percent lower than last year which is the lowest inventory since records began in 1971. Slaughter cows and bulls sold steady to 2.00 higher. Demand was good on a moderate supply. The quality was above average with the top bred cow bringing 2000.00\/head and the top pair bringing 2800.00. The top slaughter cow brought 121.00\/cwt. while the top slaughter bull brought 142.00\/cwt.<\/p>\n
