Although free fishing days are past, Winona’s Twin Pines Conservation Education Center wants to encourage families to enjoy nature together. To accomplish this, they are hosting a Family Fishing Day. While Twin Pines has a beautiful arrangement for bird watching, hiking, archery, and picnicking, families fishing together is what the MDC (Missouri Department of Conservation) wants to promote.<\/p>\n

What Is Happening<\/h3>\n

The Missouri Department of Conservation\u2019s (MDC) Twin Pines Conservation Education Center (CEC) will host<\/span> Family Fishing Day. The conservation area will hand out door prizes. On this day only, they offer permit-free fishing and even lunch to help encourage<\/span> families to discover nature together. They will have prizes for those who catch the most fish, the largest fish, and even the smallest fish. They will have prizes for the oldest and youngest fisher people.<\/p>\n

Twin Pines CEC Manager Reva Dow said,<\/p>\n

This is an opportunity for families to fish together in the pond, enjoy nature-themed activities and really discover nature together.<\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n

When Is This?<\/h3>\n

This happens on Saturday, August 19, 2024. It lasts from 10 a.m. \u2013 2 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Registration?<\/h3>\n

Although not necessary, registration is recommended due to the large crowd expected. Pre-registration can be completed online here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Other Prizes<\/h3>\n

Door prizes will be available throughout the day. Free lunch consists of hotdogs, chips, cookies, and water. It will be available while supplies last.<\/p>\n

For this event, no fishing permit is required.\u00a0 All fishing will be catch-and-release only.<\/p>\n

Where Is This?<\/h3>\n

Twin Pines Conservation Education Center is located five miles east of Winona on U.S. Highway 60. From Alton, take Highway 19 north to Highway 60. Go east about 5 miles. It is on the south side of the road.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
