Another week has gone by in the legislative session. United States Representative Jason Smith from Missouri has been busy voting on pieces of legislation.<\/p>\n
House Bill 5692<\/a> is called Ukraine Security Assistance and Oversight Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2024. This act gives appropriations to the Department of Defense to help Ukraine. While Smith voted against it, the bill did pass.<\/p>\n HR 4367<\/a> deals with appropriations as well. As Smith’s newsletter puts it, “Appropriates $62.8B in net base appropriations for DHS for FY2024, $496M to hire an additional 1,796 Border Patrol Agents, increases in ICE detention beds, $2.1B to construct the border wall, prohibits labeling a U.S. persons\u2019 communications as mis-, dis-, or mal-information.” The bill passed, with Smith voting for it.<\/p>\nHR 4367<\/h2>\n
