In preparation for the November portion of firearms deer season, Nov. 11 – 21, the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) reminds hunters to comply with baiting regulations. Using bait to attract deer this fall is illegal, including placing grain or other feed on the ground or scattering it around.<\/p>\n

Southeast Region Protection Branch Captain Russell Duckworth said,<\/p>\n

The regulations aim to limit the spread of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) in deer and ensure fair chase [1]<\/sup><\/a>.<\/h4>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Deer bait does<\/strong> include grain or feed placed or scattered to attract them.<\/p>\n

Deer baiting does not<\/strong> include maneuvering crops, such as cutting them down or mowing them.<\/p>\n
