Veterans Day is on November 11, 2023. On that day, we honor those who have served and fought for our country. In honor of them, there will be several Veterans Day assemblies going on in the area.<\/p>\n

Alton<\/h2>\n

The Alton school will be having an assembly on November 10th starting at 1:00 pm. This is put on by the FBLA for our district veterans, active duty servicemen, and guests. [1]<\/sup><\/a> It will be in the high school gym.<\/p>\n

Senior Center<\/h3>\n

The Alton Senior Center is having a special Veterans Day lunch on November 10th at 11:00 am. [2]<\/sup><\/a> The Alton Senior Center Board is sponsoring the meal.<\/p>\n

Thayer<\/h2>\n

The Thayer Senior Center is also having a Veterans Day lunch on November 10th between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm. [3]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n

School<\/h3>\n

The Thayer High School is also having a Veterans Day Assembly on November 10th at 9:30 am. All veterans and community members are invited to come. [4]<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n

Couch<\/h2>\n

Veterans and community members are welcome to go to Couch School’s Veterans Day Program on Friday starting at 12:15 pm in the new gym. [5]<\/sup><\/a> After the program, lunch will be provided for veterans and their spouses.<\/p>\n

Koshkonong<\/h2>\n

Not to be left out, the Koshkonong School will also have a Veterans Day Program on November 10th at 1:30 pm at the high school gym. [6]<\/sup><\/a> All local veterans and those currently in the military are invited to come. Singing will be done by students.<\/p>\n

West Plains<\/h2>\n

The West Plains Veterans Day parade will be on Friday, November 10th, starting at 10:00 am behind the National Guard Armory. [7]<\/sup><\/a> They will follow their usual route.<\/p>\n

Closures<\/h2>\n

The Alton Public Library, the Courthouse, and the Alton License Bureau will be closed on Friday, November 10th. On Saturday, the Alton Bank and the post office will be closed.<\/p>\n
