Thayer, Mo. \u2013<\/strong>Thayer, Missouri, held its 4th of July celebration on the holiday, July 4, 2024<\/a>. The AltonMo.com field team had the opportunity to interview the locals with history-themed questions. The questions asked were as follows: 1. Who was the first commander in chief?, 2. What are the first three words of the Constitution?, 3. Louisiana just ruled that the Ten Commandments must be in every classroom. Can you name two of the Ten Commandments?, 4. Before Washington, D.C., what city was the United States first capitol?, and the bonus question was What is the United States motto?<\/p>\n

Commander in Chief<\/h2>\n

The first question asked was “Who was the first commander in chief?”<\/p>\n

  • Incorrectly answered: 48%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Constitution<\/h2>\n

    The next question asked was “What are the first three words of the Constitution?” Most people did not know the answer.<\/p>\n

    • Incorrectly answered: 67%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Ten Commandments<\/h2>\n

      The third question was “Can you name two of the Ten Commandments?” The answers were almost evenly split between knowing and not knowing the answer.<\/p>\n

        Final Question<\/h2>\n

        The final question, and according to the numbers, one of the hardest questions, was “Before Washington, D.C., what city was the United States first capitol?”<\/p>\n
