The Missouri Department of Conservation will have a free virtual program on <em>Winter Woodpeckers<\/em> on January 17th.<\/p>\n<h2>When Is It<\/h2>\n<p>The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will help bird fanciers discover the answers to these questions and more at\u00a0<em>Winter Woodpeckers<\/em>, a free virtual program on Friday, Jan. 17, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. This online event is free and open to all ages.<\/p>\n<h2>The Program<\/h2>\n<p>Join MDC naturalists as they take a deep dive into woodpeckers, members of the family\u00a0<em>Picidae<\/em>\u00a0and some of Missouri\u2019s most recognizable and charismatic birds. \u00a0Participants will explore each of the seven native species of woodpeckers found in the Show-Me-State and how to identify them by sight and sound.<\/p>\n<p>Each species of woodpecker, the downy, hairy, pileated, red-headed, red-bellied, yellow-bellied sapsucker, and the northern flicker, stays with us all winter.\u00a0 And each one has their own special and fascinating story to tell.\u00a0 Afterward, attendees will have an interactive Q&amp;A session with the naturalists.<\/p>\n<h2>Register<\/h2>\n<p><em>Winter Woodpeckers<\/em> is a free virtual program; however, each participant must register in advance online at <a class=\"ext\" href=\"https:\/\/links-1.govdelivery.com\/CL0\/http:%2F%2Fshort.mdc.mo.gov%2F4Ho\/1\/010001943d1d4c10-8b10e277-2276-4b62-a30a-c0d6c6b2f260-000000\/osIvUtYVHpHlgQDm6N-FaPVrePH25yqyEPoq-zRzzy8=386\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-extlink=\"\">http:\/\/short.mdc.mo.gov\/4Ho<\/a> and provide a valid e-mail address to receive an online meeting link.
