December is full of days that are dedicated to tasty, warm food as the holiday season enters full swing. And this year National Cookie Day is Wednesday, December 4, a perfect excuse to whip up a batch of homemade cookies or buy some from a store.<\/p>\n

Some days there is nothing more comforting than biting into a gooey chocolate chip cookie, still warm from the oven. Or more satisfying than dunking a cookie into a glass of milk and letting it melt in your mouth. Cookies may not be the best thing, but according to a crowdsourced ranking website, the top five “most delicious kinds of desserts” are ice cream, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, chocolate, and milkshakes. No matter how you look at it, cookies are the “old reliable” of desserts, simple and tasty; they’re easy to mix up no matter the occasion.<\/p>\n

As Christmas draws closer, sweets line the aisles at stores and cookie recipes pour out of every food magazine; it only makes sense that in the midst of all the holiday sweets and desserts, December 4, or\u00a0National Cookie Day, arrives. This Wednesday, the cookie takes a day for itself- not to be confused with National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day (which is August 4), today is a day we celebrate all the cookies- no matter their shape, texture, or flavor.<\/p>\n
