Oregon County COVID-19 Alert! Find out how the COVID-19 outbreak is affecting Oregon County, Missouri by clicking here…

Due to the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and the Missouri Conservation Commission announced that they are temporarily waiving permit requirements for fishing. This applies to daily trout tags and sport fishing permits for Missouri residents and nonresidents whose fishing privileges are not otherwise suspended.

When Does This Happen?

This waiver runs from March 27, 2020, through April 15, 2020. At that time, personnel will reassess the situation and take further action.

Any Other Rules Suspended?

All season dates, methods, and limits will continue to apply and be enforced. This just means you don’t have to have a permit to fish according to the rules, but you still have to obey the rules. Here is a link to the MDC page on fish seasons. While fishing, remember to follow proper safety. With this virus emergency, it is still important to get outside, get fresh air, and relax. Fishing is a way for people to get out into nature while complying with health and safety regulations. While enjoying the outdoors, it is important to remember hand washing and social distancing at all times.

Anything Else Changed?

Also during this time, Missouri State Parks remain open, but all campgrounds and lodging will be temporarily closed. This includes campgrounds, park-run lodging, and concessionaire-run lodging. Missouri State Parks remain open to the public for day-use, including boat ramps and more than 1,100 miles of trails.
