Thousands are still without power after the powerful storms and winds that came through Monday night. Although Howell Oregon Electric (HOE) workers are laboring diligently, so many were without power at the end of the storm; HOE is asking patrons to be patient as they are working their way to get everyone up.

What Local Counties Are Affected?

The storm brought strong winds that toppled trees and sent debris flying. As of Wednesday evening, May 6, 2020, one thousand, four hundred and eighteen residents in Willow Springs and Pomona from Howell County are making do without electricity. While there are 176 customers in Birch Tree and Winona in Oregon counties also without power. As of 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, 2020, 5,499 locations are without electricity. By Thursday morning, the people without power was down to 393.

Did Everyone Lose Power?

Many residents had power drop off overnight Monday, see our previous article. But the majority of people using Howell Oregon Electric services had power restored within a few hours. Those people along highway U.S. 60 were especially hit with strong winds. Trees were toppled. Some fell on roadways, while others fell on electric lines or poles and barns. Most of the areas are very rural, thus the territory itself makes the repairs slow going. However, some residents do have generators, for just such emergencies as this.
