Missouri held its primary elections on August 4, 2020. It was a big day for voters as well as candidates. As many offices are currently held by Republican contenders, this article is a summary of the winners in various positions that we in Oregon County voted for. Go here<\/a> to see the winners of the Libertarian, Green, and Constitution parties and click here<\/a> to see the Democratic Party winners.<\/p>\n The highest office in Missouri is the governor. Incumbent Mike Parson overwhelmed the opposition taking 75% of the Republican votes. He moves on to the general elections in November facing Nicole Galloway. Incumbent Mike Kehoe won Lieutenant Governor with almost 59% of the votes. Incumbents John Ashcroft and Scott Fitzpatrick both won the primaries with no Republican contenders. Eric Schmitt won the office of Attorney General for the Republican Party primary.<\/p>\n The people of Missouri voted for our U.S. Representative in District 8. Jason Smith, who is currently holding the office, rewon the option to run in the general elections. There were no other same party contestants.<\/p>\n Senator Cunningham term-limited out this year. It was a tight race for those vying for his office. However, at the end of the day when votes were all counted, Karla Eslinger pulled a last-minute win over Robert Ross. Her win was with less than 200 votes., less than 1%. She moves on to the general elections.<\/p>\n Representative Pogue also term-limited out this year. As Pogue was highly favored, his position had several Republican candidates rivaling for that office. Ron Copeland came out the winner with 44.8% of the votes.<\/p>\n All of these candidates move on to the general election scheduled for November 3, 2020. At that level that each will compete against candidates from other parties and other views as to how to run this state. It is important to know how each candidate stands on making decisions for the people or people making their own decisions.<\/p>\n Currently residing sheriff Eric King won the votes to continue being sheriff of Oregon County in a highly visible race against Kevin Jotz.
