Alton, Mo. – Although Oregon County, Missouri, has no reported cases of the infamous coronavirus, employers are working diligently to protect their employees and customers. Trying to stay open to servicing customers requires creativity.
Drive Through Services
For example, Young’s Feed Store on the square has a drive-through service. Signs and barriers are up to direct traffic. The Burger Palace has drive-through service. Banks offer drive-through service with lobby meetings by appointment only.
Closures
The Alton Public Library is closed until further notice. Christo’s Resale is also closed.
Varied Services
The gas stations both offer limited deli. Harps Grocery Store closes at 8:00 p.m. It is also frequently out of necessary supplies, like toilet paper. Plan accordingly. The Alton Senior Center is attempting to meet the needs of the seniors without infecting them. Lunch meals can be picked up outside the center with a quick toot of the horn. Meals on wheels is operating. MU Oregon County Extension Office in Alton is closed for now, but they are taking soil samples. They can answer additional questions at 417-778-7490.
The Alton License Office is changing its hours for April. They are open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. They are closed for an hour lunch beginning at noon.
