As a steep price hike hit fans’ wallets during the last three months of 2023, Disney+ lost 1.3 million subscribers worldwide [1]. Disney+ said goodbye to 400,000 customers in the U.S. and Canada alone – its highest domestic decline ever.

It is a major setback for Disney, which has poured billions of dollars into its streaming services without yet reaching profitability. Since domestic Disney+ launched four years ago, its domestic subscriptions have settled around 46 million, an ominous sign.

Raising Rates

The left-wing studio recently raised Disney+’s monthly fee to $13.99 from $10.99, a 27 percent increase. In 2022, the price rose from $7.99 to $10.99. This means Disney+ subscribers saw their monthly bill climb a total of 75 percent in less than two years.

In the final three months of 2023, Disney’s streaming services – including Hulu – lost $216 million. Compared to more recent quarters, where the company lost more than $1 billion on streaming, that’s an improvement.

Movie Messaging

After a disastrous 2022, the woke company could not mount a comeback after a string of box-office failures and streaming woes.

Furthermore, Disney doubled down on its messaging for children about gays and transgenders in 2023. This all adds up to a disastrous 2023 for Disney.
