Alton Area Chamber of Commerce met for their March meeting on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at Court Square Cafe. They talked about several things including the eclipse and the Walnut Festival.
Eclipse
Eclipse glasses will be advertised as commemorative. University of Missouri – Columbia students will be in Alton with a telescope that people can use to view the event.
Pocket Park
It was announced that the City of Alton has decided to move forward with plans for a parking space in the empty lot on Court Square. Therefore, the Chamber’s plans for a pocket park have been dissolved.
Committee
Members agreed to seek residents who will serve on a Walnut Festival Committee. They are also trying to find a chair person for the committee.
Meetings
The Chamber also agreed to hold regular meetings at various Alton restaurants and plan to meet at the Feed Sack for April’s meeting. Items that will be talked about in April will include information about the Walnut Festival. The June meeting will be election of officers.
