The In-N-Out Burger in San Francisco, California, was shut down on October 14, 2021, for not checking customers vaccination status. In-N-Out Burger responded by saying that they were not going to be the vaccination police for the government.
Restaurant Closed
The San Francisco Department of Public Health closed the In-N-Out Burger after health inspectors found out that the employees were not checking the COVID-19 vaccination status of the customers who ate inside. The fast-food restaurant opened the next day for take-out only.
In-N-Out’s Response
In-N-Out said that the health inspectors wanted the employees to demand proof of vaccination from every customer. If the customer did not have the vaccine, the employees were supposed to refuse to let them in. In-N-Out said they were not going to be the vaccination police.
We refuse to become the vaccination police for any government. It is unreasonable, invasive, and unsafe… [1]
The restaurant went on to say that they disagree with any government who acts like a dictator over a private company.
We fiercely disagree with any government dictate that forces a private company to discriminate against customers who choose to patronize their business. This is clear governmental overreach and is intrusive, improper, and offensive. [2]
