According to internal company emails leaked to social media, the In-N-Out burger chain will prohibit employees in five states from wearing masks unless they’ve got a note from their doctor, Bloomberg reports.
Reason
In the memo, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, Texas, and Utah workers are advised of “the importance of customer service and the ability to show our Associates’ smiles and other facial features while considering the health and well-being of all individuals.”
Contrasting Opinion
Some say that requiring a medical note is
a burden in terms of time and money [1].
However, less than two years ago, these same critics required many people to have the same doctor’s note to leave their homes without a mask.
When Does This Happen?
The policy, which will go into effect August 14, will apply to all In-N-Out employees in those states unless their job duties require masks or other protective gear. If they fail to comply, employees could face disciplinary action, up to and including being fired.
The new masking guidelines are also subject to local health regulations.
As Bloomberg notes, California and Oregon – not on the list, already have laws that prevent employers from banning masks.
What Is In-N-Out?
In-N-Out is a fast-food burger place specializing in burgers, one-size fries, and one-size drinks. Simple, yet always busy. It is an ideal place for youth to begin a career learning job etiquette on a simple foundation. In-N-Out does not offer many alterations to the menu, unlike other competitors.
In-N-Out is found on the west coast while branching into Texas. The chain was in the news earlier for putting Bible verses on their packaging.
