The Alton, Missouri, city council meeting took place on December 9, 2024. Multiple were in attendance for the meeting.
Grant Nelson
One of the first people to speak after the routine openings was Grant Nelson. He brought up the fact that the city council should send out letters to the citizens of Alton telling them that the sidewalk maintenance is their job. Nelson also suggested saying the Pledge of Allegiance before every meeting.
The Underground
One of the main topics was about the store The Undergound on the square. Several citizens were asking questions about the lawfulness of the business. The city council told those present that they have done their “due diligence” in checking with the state about the store’s legality before the store was even opened, and that the citizens should contact the attorney general if they think it is unlawful.
Other News
Another topic brought up was the park. The tire swing at Tucker Creek Park was taken down because of rotting wood.
Next Meeting
The next city council meeting will be Monday, January 13, 2025, at the city hall. The public is invited to attend to hear about what’s going on or to bring a topic to the city council’s attention.
