Alton, Mo. – The Oregon County Food Pantry can always use help. They take financial and grocery donations, as well as labor donations. As we enter the holiday season, families desperately need the food the pantry gives out. To do this, the pantry needs helpers to pass out the food.
Truck
The truck arrives on the first Wednesday of each month. The pantry needs volunteers to help unload it, which can be heavy work.
Serving
On the Thursday after the first Wednesday, volunteers are needed to pass out the food to those in need. As economic times hit more families, the number of those in need grows. On this day, volunteers package the baskets and run them to the cars.
Helpers
When the pantry was in town, school youth would come to help out, doing their community service. As the pantry is outside of town, the trip for school kids is more complicated. However, homeschooled families are encouraged to come help. The pantry takes help from anyone of any age. You can come for one to four hours on either day. Whatever help they get is much appreciated.
Place
The Oregon County Food Pantry is on US 160 west, on the left side, past Harp’s Grocery Store.
