The Alton, Missouri, Chamber of Commerce had their monthly meeting on Thursday, March 16, 2023, at the Community Worship Center. Although some members could not come, several things were discussed.
Scholarship
The Chamber gives out a scholarship to an Alton senior every year. They have picked the winner but are waiting for a date to announce it.
Court Square Cafe
On March 11th, Court Square Cafe had its grand opening. A couple of chamber members and some of the community came and showed the restaurant their support. A little over a dozen people showed up.
Miscellaneous
Some things the chamber just touched on were giving out Chamber stickers to the business members; getting an email system set up for the Chamber to send out reminders, notices, etc.; and a special city council meeting next Thursday.
Eclipse
The majority of the talk was about the upcoming eclipses in October of this year and April of next year. Some things talked about were getting eclipse glasses, picking out a theme, getting an eclipse committee together, having “hot spots” surrounding the day of the eclipse, and much more.
