Ozarks Regional Stockyards Slaughter / Replacement Cattle – Mar 13, 2024
Summary:
Slaughter cows and bulls sold 5.00-7.00 higher. Demand was very good on all classes of animals. The supply of slaughter animals was moderate while the supply of replacement cattle was heavy. Spring arriving in the Ozarks has helped with the demand for bred cows and pairs as producers look to rebuild herds that have been culled down for several years. With retail cuts continuing to climb, the demand for cheaper ground beef has resulted in slaughter prices being the highest they have been in years. The top slaughter cow brought 137.50/cwt. and the top slaughter bull 159.00/cwt.
