Ozarks Regional Stockyards Slaughter / Replacement Cattle – Sep 27, 2023
Summary:
Slaughter cows are still trading lower, around 3.00-5.00 lower, and slaughter bulls were steady. Demand was good on replacement cattle and moderate on slaughter animals. The supply of slaughter animals was heavy while the supply of bred cows and pairs was moderate. Uncertainty in the Futures Markets as well as lower Box Beef Cutouts has affected slaughter prices this week, even though Cutter Cow Cutouts have continued to gain. The USDA’s Cold Storage Report came out on Monday and reported the total pounds of beef in freezers were up 3 percent from the previous month but down 18 percent from last year.
