Memorial Day, by Delores Eccles
To the many who fought,
And still survived;
To the ones who gave all,
And on battlefields died-
To the many in hospitals,
And in therapy, too;
Who have lost much,
For the red, white and blue-
To those who stepped proudly,
And said,” I will go;”
And to those who were drafted,
Yet, became our heroes.
To the families who suffered,
Separation and loss;
Who gave loved ones,
So dear, at great cost-
For the ones who encouraged,
And helped us to grow;
Those we remember
And appreciate so.
For the mothers and fathers,
Who trained us with love;
Who are gathered in Heaven
Looking down in love.
To all these we cherish,
On this Memorial Day;
We thank for our freedom.
God bless the U.S.A.
