Alton, Mo. – Alton, Missouri is trying to get a new fire station. However, the construction process is slow. The whole permit and building process has taken over a year so far.
Where Is The New Fire Station?
The new construction for this station began a few months ago. The building is on Highway 160, on the west side of town, next to Harps Grocery Store.
What Does It Look Like?
The station itself is red with three garage doors. The old Ledgerwood Building was behind it, and has just recently been torn down. That foundation is still there. Nevertheless, those driving by can see improvements in the construction. But there is more that needs completion. Work inside needs finishing. The parking lot/ driveway needs paving.
Any Timeline?
Originally planned to be completed before Thanksgiving of this year, there is no current completion date. It needs to be finished, but done correctly and not rushed. This is a fire station that will be around years to come. Local residents do not want problems with the facility once it opens. That being said, when it is ready to open, the city is planning on a grand opening celebration so everyone can see it inside and out.
