With pandemic concerns and the education of our children weighing heavily on parents, we reached out for help and encouragement concerning schooling kids at home and received some helpful hints about home education from an expert.

Jade Bressler took some time out of her busy but blessed life to shed light on some basic questions on how to teach your children at home. She is a homeschooling mother of four lovely children. She has been educating at home for 11 years.

This is part 2 of a 2 part series.

The first part was titled, “Q & A: Homeschooling Questions Answered From An Expert- Part 1 of 2.”

Q: What about down the line— Graduation & College?

A: There are many websites that educate us on the rules and laws of homeschooling in our local areas. Missouri is a great state in which to homeschool and the guidelines are very attainable, while still providing quality education for our kids.

There are programs that will help you create a transcript for your high school student, and colleges are very used to accepting homeschool kids.

I haven’t graduated any students yet, but I have many friends who have launched kids into the world. I dare to say that their high school transcript can be the least of the worries, with all the other obstacles young people face these days.

Q: What if I don’t have a college degree?

A: Neither do I!

One of the most important qualifications is loving your child. If you love your child and want what’s best for them, then together you guys can figure this out. There may be struggles and ups/downs, but there always is.

Homeschooling gives you the opportunity to spend a lot of quality time with your blessings! I think you will enjoy the investment of your life even if you don’t have a paper on the wall saying you’re qualified to teach.

Q: How do I get started?

A: You already have!

You’re here, asking questions and looking for answers. I would suggest prayer, prayer, and more prayer. The Lord will guide you in the right path. I think both mom and dad should be board together on this journey. Your kids need you to be united in their education.

Reach out to a friend and ask questions. There are plenty of websites to look over. Join a local community group. Find a curriculum. But — don’t stress! It will all fall into place.
