Long Live The Kings. Who Decides?— Guest Post by Frank Devenuto— Part 3 of 3

General elections.Commentary

General elections.

We must not only vote, but we must vote for those amongst us who will uphold the sole job of the government as written in the Declaration of Independence and delineated in the Constitution…

Essential Pillars of Civil Society

There is a spectrum of power with total government control, dictator or king, on one side and no government, anarchy, on the other–unless people are moral. But why be moral? Simply, no civilization in history has survived or flourished without a religious foundation. John Adams stated, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” George Washington noted, “Religion and morality are the essential pillars of civil society.” These morals come from an all-knowing God who sees your actions and thoughts, wants you to be fair, and will hold you accountable in the future. When God and morality are removed from society, every man does what is right in his own eyes, immorality and domestic chaos abounds, uncontrolled passions run amok, violence increases exponentially, and fear rules.

…we must vote for those…who will…secure and protect the unalienable rights given to all men and that amongst these rights are life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness–and do so without wavering.

Lessons From Founding Fathers

For our republic to endure, the people must relearn the lessons of the early colonial pastors and Founding Fathers, and return to the God of the Bible. Daniel Webster said in a speech, “Ye future generations! We would hail you, as you rise in your long succession, to fill the places which we now fill…We welcome you to the blessings of good government and religious liberty…We welcome you to the immeasurable blessings of rational existence, the immortal hope of Christianity, and the light of everlasting truth!…We are bound…to convince the world that order and law, religion and morality, the rights of conscience, the rights of persons, and the rights of property, may all be preserved and secured, in the most perfect manner, by a government entirely and purely elective. If we fail in this, our disaster will be signal (monumental), and will furnish an argument…in support of those opinions which maintain that government can rest safely on nothing but power and coercion.”

John Adams, in a letter to his wife, wrote, “Liberty once lost, is lost forever.”

Must Vote

We must not only vote, but we must vote for those amongst us who will uphold the sole job of the government as written in the Declaration of Independence and delineated in the Constitution – to secure and protect the unalienable rights given to all men and that amongst these rights are life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness–and do so without wavering. We must never compromise our rights and liberties for security or ease and must always hold our elected representatives accountable. Long live the kings!
