Brother Andrew was known around the world for providing Bibles to people who normally could not obtain a Bible. He was named ‘God’s Smuggler’ for smuggling Bibles into communist countries.

Biography

Brother Andrew was born in 1928 in the Netherlands. After WWII, he joined the Dutch army where he became a Christian. He wanted to spread the Gospel. He took Revelation 3:2 seriously and chose to support the church in Communist-controlled countries. His first smuggling trip came in 1957. He smuggled Bibles and tracts across the Yugoslavia border. His prayer was repeated frequently and became famous worldwide:

Lord… when you were on earth, you made blind eyes see. Now, I pray, make seeing eyes blind. Do not let the guards see those things I do not want them to see [1].

God did answer affirmatively and Andrew distributed Bibles in Yugoslavia and many other countries around the globe. He even floated Bibles into China. You can read his biography in God’s Smuggler available on Amazon, eBay, Christianbook Dist, and others. He continued smuggling Bibles into the Middle East and put the glories of God in the book Light Force.

Mission

He started the mission called Open Doors because he believes,

that all doors are open, anytime and anywhere [2].

Brother Andrew was committed to serving the needs of the persecuted Christians. By the time of his death, he had helped Christians in over 60 countries. When asked if he had any regrets about his life’s work, he exclaimed,

If I could live my life over again, I would be a lot more radical [3].
