Early Life
Newhart was born on September 5, 1929, in Illinois. Newhart served in the United States Army for two years, graduating from Loyola University of Chicago with a business degree, and worked as both an accountant and copywriter before becoming a comedian and actor. [1]
Family
In 1963, Bob Newhart married Ginnie Quinn in 1963. They were married for 60 years until her death in 2023. [2] He had four kids and ten grandchildren.
Elf
After being a comedian for several years, Newhart was part of the early-2000s film Elf as Buddy’s elf dad. At the 20th anniversary of Elf, Newhart said the following: “Without question, the part of Papa Elf outranks, by far, any role I may have ever played. My agent sent me the script and I fell in love with it.” [3]
