Pat Robertson, who founded the Christian Coalition, and Christian Broadcasting Network, and ran for President, passed away at his home at age 93. Although he suffered a stroke in 2018, no cause of death was announced.
Growing Up
Marion Gordon Robertson was born in Lexington, Virginia. He was the youngest son. His father had been a Congressman. His mother was religious. Together, they shaped his religious and political future. After serving as a Marine and graduating from Yale, he finally had a ‘born-again experience’ in 1959. Shortly thereafter, he became an ordained minister.
Ministry
In 1959 he bought a television station he wanted to use for religious purposes. By 1966, CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network) was available to the public. In 1985, he told the Chicago Tribune,
I have always thought that Christians should get involved in public life [1].
He promoted families and school prayer. Shortly thereafter, he started the Christian Coalition. One of its goals was to promote family values. By 2001, he resigned from the board. However, not one to slow down, he continued on 700 Club into his 90’s. He continued to speak out against current trends that went against the Bible. More details of his ministries can be found here.
