Alton, Mo. – There is no doubt that we have all heard of the Salvation Army. During Christmas, bell ringers show themselves outside of stores. Shoppers cheerfully donate to the bright red buckets to help the needy. Our understanding is that a large portion of the funds collected is returned to the community. Because of trusty bell ringers and charitable donations, the money is coming back to us. A Salvation Army donation has been made to the Alton Senior Center.
What Happened?
Kathy Anderson, the manager for the SeniorAge Agency in Alton, announced a generous donation from the Salvation Army in the amount of $900.00. The center can use this money for Christmas, special events, meals, or any way they see as necessary.
Local Workers
The Salvation Army encourages local residents to stand in the cold, on lonely afternoons or cold, wet evenings, ringing the bell to encourage donations. Kathy wants to ensure that everyone knows that when the bell ringers are out in the cold, the money does stay LOCAL. With holidays fast approaching and economic woes at hand, any funding to help the needy is appreciated.
Working
The representatives from Salvation Army in our area are Larry and Terri. They have been helping for years and are highly recommended.
Thank you to all the workers and donators who made this possible.
