Thayer, Mo. – We are officially into spring, and the weather feels like it. One wants to open all of the windows to freshen stale inside air. With that, cities help residents clean their homes and yards. Three cities have announced the dates for spring cleanups: Thayer, Koshkonong, and Alton.
Thayer
Thayer is having a spring cleanup from April 4 to 14. Residents can leave their unwanted material at the end of their driveways.
Following the regular trash collection schedule, curbside pickup will be available from April 7 through April 11. Residents should ensure their items are placed at the curb by their designated trash day. Smaller items should be bagged together for easier collection.
Tires, old electronics, refrigerators, paint, oil, and chemicals are not accepted for pickup.
For those who miss their scheduled curbside pickup, a roll-off dumpster will be available at the Street Shed for self-service disposal. Residents are encouraged to use this service to help keep the community clean and clutter-free.
Koshkonong
Further north in the county, Koshkonong is helping residents remove unwanted items. They will have a dumpster available for residents to dispose of their items at no charge. They specify that this is only for Koshkonong residents. The dumpster will become available on April 1 and remain available until it is full.
Unacceptable items include tard waste, tires, hazardous materials, batteries, paint, electronics, anything with freon, and flourescent bulbs.
Alton
Alton is also having its spring cleanup March 31- April 4.
