Two local groups are spending time to raise funds and awareness for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.  One group is the Quilters for Christ group who are having a bake sale. The other is the annual Case Auction  Benefit.

Who Is St. Jude’s?

St. Jude’s mission statement says,”  to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family’s ability to pay.” [1]. The hospital has treated children from around the world.  And families never receive a bill from here.

What Is Happening Soon?

This Saturday, January 11, 2020, the Quilters for Christ will have a bake sale. This takes place at Hirsch Feed and Supply in Thayer, who’s address is 1400 Nettleton Ave, Thayer. The store opens at 7:30 a.m., but a table will be set up beginning at 8:00 a.m. They will sell cinnamon rolls, cakes, cookies, pies, breads, turnovers, and more. They will also sell chances on a quilt. Someone will man the table until all items are sold. All proceeds benefit St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. Some general questions can be answered by Hirsch employees at (417) 264-7616.

Anything Else?

Upcoming on February 8, 2020, is the Annual Case Auction Benefit St. Jude Auction. This happens yearly and this year the First Baptist Church in Thayer, Missouri will host the event. The church’s address is 420 Chestnut St. This event begins with a chili supper by donation at 5:00 p.m. The dinner offsets the auction, which begins at 6:00 p.m. They are taking donations at this date. One of the raffle items will be a Henry Golden Boy 30/30 Rifle. Tickets and questions can be directed to Mike or Jennifer Case or on the Case Auction facebook page. All proceeds here go directly to St. Jude’s Hospital.
