Alton, Mo. – The Alton Senior Center is not short on activities. Up to Christmas, the center has lots more in the works.
Crafting
The senior center has craft classes with quite a variety of ideas and skills. Beaded bracelets is only one of the items to be crafted.
Exercise
On Tuesdays and Thursdays the Alton seniors, or anyone else, can join in the “Walk With Ease”. This is a walk around town, weather permitting. The walks are from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.
October Fun
Throughout the month of October the center will host a multitude of Halloween activities and fun, for whomever wants to participate.
Fall Blanket Drive
Also this fall the Senior Center will host a drive for the seniors. They host a different drive each year. This year will be a blanket drive. Blankets are gathered from around the community and distributed to the seniors who especially need the extra layers, but are on fixed incomes. Residents can start now by sorting through their slightly used blankets for donating. Or if they come across a sale for new blankets, perhaps they can purchase an extra one for those in need.
According to Sandy, this is not all that is planned. This is just the immediate planned events and the major ones. Stay tuned to altonmo.com for further events.
