Alton, Mo. – Planning is underway for this year’s Walnut Festival. Following the excitement of the eclipse, vendors are gearing up to reserve their spots at various fall festivals. Some vendors are already requesting vendor applications for this year’s Walnut Festival.
Date
The 2024 Black and Gold Walnut Festival is set for Saturday, October 5, 2024. It begins at 9 am and continues until mid-afternoon.
Where Is The Festival?
For those new to the area, the walnut festival is held in downtown Alton around the square.
What To Expect
The festival has booths circling the square. Vendors sell everything from jewelry and clothing to cold drinks, fish lunches, and raffle tickets. Churches and organizations manage booths next to professional vendors. Live music cascades from the stage. Children games keep them occupied throughout the day. All of the games and booths are family-friendly.
There are also contests. The chamber sponsors baking and carving contests, and often, there is a Walnut Idol contest. This year, AltonMo.com is hosting a photo contest. For children, they offer a free pumpkin carving contest.
Cost
There is no charge to attend the festival. Parking is available all around the square.

Because some vendors are already requesting an application, the chamber is already publicizing the vendor applications. You can download one here: Walnut Festival Application. When submitting the application, change the year to 2024.
