Alton, Mo. – Today, on December 16, due to inclement weather in our part of Missouri, the Alton R-4 schools will be closed. With rain, sleet, and snow on the radar for Alton, Missouri, school busses did not come out to pick up children this morning, the 5th and 6th Junior Beta Bell Ringing for tonight has also been canceled.
School is Closed
Thanks to the weather this morning, students attending Alton R-4 got a three day weekend. This morning Alton woke up to light rain, with a chance of snow on the forecast and a high of 36 for the day, and canceled school for the Alton R-4 schools.
Eric Allen confirmed that school would be closed today due to the inclement weather in the area, but it should resume tomorrow.
Too Cold
The 5th and 6th Jr. Beta Bell Ringing for tonight has also been canceled, as teachers worried that the bitter cold wouldn’t be good for students. The junior high and high school Christmas concert that was scheduled for this evening has also been postponed due to the weather. Alton is currently working on rescheduling and will be announcing the new date later in the week. [1]
