Alton, Mo. – February 29, 2020, is a leap day. February 29, 2020, you can bring your friends over to celebrate the leap year with activities and food. Here are some ideas for things to do on this leap year.
Here are some activities you can do for leap day:
#1 Make Origami Frogs
You and your friends can make origami frogs. [1] You can use colorful paper and have different colored frogs. You can also have different sizes of frogs.
#2 Make a Leaping Collage
Get some magazines and other magazine-type stuff and a poster board or a sheet of paper. Cut out animals, or things, that leap, such as jumping beans, kangaroos, pogo sticks, frogs, grasshopper, and other things that leap.
#3 Write a Letter to Yourself
Sit down, grab some paper, a pen, and an envelope. After you’ve gotten that, write a letter to yourself that you can read in four years, the next leap year. [2] The next leap year being February 29, 2024. You can hide your letter somewhere but don’t forget where it is, and then break it out once again in exactly four years.
#4 Play Leapfrog
Another thing you can do on leap day is play leapfrog. Have a person crouch on the ground and another person jump over the crouched down person. You can play this game with as many people as you want.
#5 Make a Styrofoam Frog
Get a styrofoam cup of any size, some googly eyes, paints, pipe cleaners, a permanent marker, and some red cloth. Paint the styrofoam cup light green with dots of dark green and white. Let it dry. Get a green pipe cleaner and cut it so it fits around the googly eyes. Glue the pipe cleaner to the eyes after you’ve measured it. Glue the eyes and pipe cleaners to the bottom of the cup. At the top of the cup, which is resting on the surface, stick cut green pipe cleaners into the cup. You’ll need twelve cut pipe cleaners about 1/2 inch to 1 inch. Get three together and stick in the front and sides of the cup. Cut a 1 inch to 1 1/2 inch of red cloth. At the end of the cloth, cut a ‘v’ into the cloth. About an inch from the bottom of the cup, put the red cloth into the cup after making a little hole. For the final touch, grab the marker and make a mouth and nose above the red cloth, which is the tongue.
